I am very interested in going to Cuba, But please explain to me why it is so expensive in such a poor country. The prices seem to be out of whack with other travel destinations. Thanks for explaining this to me.
Yes, we agree…it seems improbable that going 90 miles offshore of the US could be more than traveling halfway around the world! Due to bureaucracy, there is a higher cost involved for Americans to go to Cuba. With the relaxation of rules, prices will likely come down over time. The positive tradeoff for now is that limited access and fewer tourists means experiencing a truly rich cultural adventure in a place that was almost frozen in time. This dynamic won’t last forever, though.
